Distributed Print & Hybrid Mail

Digital communications are now part of our everyday lives but paper is often our medium of choice to receive information. Despite the fact that digital printing technology has made it cost effective to personalise every document we send, compared to 'e-communication', print is slow and expensive. While we use paper we need to find faster and cheaper ways to deliver it. Distributed print and hybrid mail delivery is the way forward.

The problems with hybrid mail up to now have been:

  • The need to conform to templates when what companies really want is to be able to be able to specify their own designs, content and stationery.
  • The lack of an international solution. Distributed print produces the most benefit (in time, cost and environmental savings) over long distances.
  • A perceived lack of control. When documents are printed and mailed at source the sending company believes it has better control. This is not the case - although the printing might be close to hand the actual delivery of the message relies on the postal supply chain with no end to end visibility.
  • The investment in traditional printing  and postal infrastructure. It's hard to get people to throw this all away, even if the new way is better.

With the exception of the last point, the other barriers need not exist. Some clever software - Jupiter - provides organisations with the ability to upload almost anything they want, in the form of data of pre-formatted documents, send it anywhere in the world and track it every step of the way.
